Laura Bridges-Newhouse, MS is a dynamic teacher, administrator and leader in the field of early childhood education and child development. Her educational background includes an MS Degree from the University of Oregon in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in child development. Her current work as a Child Development Consultant at the California Department of Education, Early Education & Support Division (EESD) involves her leadership and oversight in the development of key early childhood publications for the State of California including California's standards for preschool: California Preschool Learning Foundations, California Preschool Curriculum Framework, California Early Childhood Educator Competencies, California Preschool Program Guidelines, Family Partnerships and Culture, and The Powerful Role of Play in Education. She also is the contract monitor for the California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN), California Inclusion and Behavior Consultant Network (CIBC), and California Early Childhood Online (CECO). Her career covers 40 years in the early childhood field and includes teaching at community colleges and universities, providing administrative leadership in child care resource and referral agencies, teaching parent education, and administering school readiness and special needs projects.
